The Richards Grant for the Study of British Transferware supports research, publications, exhibitions, programs, or other projects that advance the understanding and appreciation of British transfer printed earthenware.
Named for Paul and Gladys Richards, avid collectors of British transferware and long-time supporters of the Transferware Collectors Club, the grant program is supported by a generous grant from the Paul C. Richard and Gladys Richards Charitable Foundation.
Since its creation in 2009, the Richards Grant Program has funded over forty projects ranging from research support that resulted in articles, publication subventions to fund book publications, development and implementation of online exhibits, and financial support for lectures and conferences. Past grant recipients have included archaeologists, collectors, curators, potters, and independent scholars.
The Richards Grant Program annually underwrites grants of up to $10,000.00. We encourage anyone working on a transferware-focused project to consider applying. Applications are due May 1st, with decisions made by August.
