2021 Annual Meeting Status
At a special Board meeting on February 14th, the TCC Board of Directors unanimously voted to cancel plans for an in-person Annual Meeting in October due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. While recognizing it is possible that travel will be safe by October, there is enough uncertainty about the possibility of vaccine resistant strains emerging to warrant caution. Protecting the health of our members is our first priority.
The Annual Meeting also requires a large upfront investment for the meeting promotion, hotel meeting rooms, audio-visual equipment, food, buses, speaker fees, etc. Registration fees then cover these expenses, often leaving the organization with a small profit, but if only a few members register or there are a large number of cancellations, the TCC would suffer a significant financial loss. It simply is not possible to predict what the circumstances will be in June and July when registrations would normally be made, or between then and October.
The Board will be working on plans for a more expansive virtual on-line Annual Meeting in October and looks forward to being able to gather in person in 2022. We will keep you posted on plans for October as they develop.
