10th Annual Conference
Bristol, England
October 15-18, 2009
We are pleased to announce that rooms have already been secured for these dates at the beautiful Redwood Lodge Hotel, Bristol, England. The hotel is set in a wooded area only a few miles from the centre of the City and is only a taxi ride away from the main railway station and Bristol International Airport. Continental flies non-stop to Bristol directly from Newark, New Jersey.
Bristol has maintained historic ties with the United States since the earliest days, being the point of departure in 1497 for the modern discoverer of the North American Mainland, John Cabot. Later it was one of the principle UK ports for the importation of tobacco and cocoa and had an involvement in the notorious triangular trade. It was also the home of Pountney and Allies, later Pountney and Goldney, who manufactured transferware.
We shall be spending time in Bath with its wonderful Georgian architecture, famed Poultney Bridge, and Roman Baths, as well as visiting important Bristol sites. There will be a full program of talks and outings so please make a note of the dates in your diary, and plan on attending.
Plans are also in the works for an exciting TCC Anniversary Ceramics Tour that will precede the annual meeting and deliver you to the Redwood Lodge Hotel just in time for meeting registration! The tour will visit three key transferware production regions of England: Staffordshire, Shrewsbury and Swansea/South Wales. Itinerary and additional information will be announced soon. We hope you will attend one or both events!
